"Can You Handle The Truth"
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path”

Psalm 119:105
 It is common to pick up a news paper today and read headlines of gun violence committed by teen-aged males or the sexual assault of someone’s daughter. It’s not even strange to hear of plots to commit mass murder or even teachers and principles being gunned down on local high school and college campuses. Day by day the moral fabric of families across the globe is shredded into a state of non-existence. We can point a finger in so many directions. But what is the real cause of today’s behavior in the youth of America? Do we blame the many PTA and town hall meetings that are held in an effort to find solutions to this growing problem; but are yet  stymied?

 Where do we find the answers?

 The Bible is filled with wisdom and solutions for the ills of this 2012 society.

Proverbs 22:6 reads: “Train up a child in the way he should go;
and when he is old he will not depart from it.

While Proverbs 22:15 teaches: “Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.”

In the 6th chapter of Ephesians children are admonished to obey and honor their parents, and fathers are instructed not to provoke their children to wrath; but to bring them up and nurture them in the admonition of the Lord.
In truth, the lack of good parenting skills is the root cause for the lack of respect and concern for human life found in many of today’s youth. How many more young lives and dreams will be snuffed out before parents take on the responsibility of properly raising and teaching their children as commanded by God’s word?

Government has played a major roll also, by passing laws which have been designed for the sole purpose of allowing today’s youth to govern themselves without true parental supervision, while Hollywood habitually produces movies depicting young people supervising themselves through very “grown-up” situations.

 Drugs, guns, hundred dollar sneakers, bling etc… seem to have replaced reading, writing and arithmetic. Moms and Dad’s throughout the country are found to be guilty of gross negligence where our children are concerned, and there’s a heavy price to pay.

James 4:17 reads: “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

Mom & Dad, it’s time to wake up or suffer chastisement at the hands of our heavenly Father.

"The truth will make you free"
